The Erskine Bridge Hotel Spa break - Cheap but not always cheerful

Yvonne and I were in need of a relaxing spa break although cheap if possible money was getting tight!! We found and booked the spa package at the Erskine Bridge Hotel which was very competitively priced.I'll start with the good points: the massages were excellent, the food served in the bar in the evening was more than adequate and reasonably priced, the leisure club with swimming sauna, steam and jaccuzzi was fine and the car parking was free. Unfortunately thats about it for the good points.

Now the not so good. The hotel is generally very tired looking,we asked for a room with a view of the bridge. We were allocated a room at the back with a view of a flat roof. We complained about that and were reallocated a room at the front. The room had clearly been recently refurbished but there was already signs of wear and tear, we also discovered what felt like a gale blowing through the closed windows. The porter arrived with a fan heater and a pile of towels. He explained the metal framed windows were not very draught proof and all he could do was pack round the frame with towels and if we closed the curtains that should keep out the draught.............we now had a room with a view of closed curtains.

The massage room was a very small room in the corner of the Gym, not exactly tranquil and most of the Gym equipment was inoperable.

Just goes to show you get what you pay for

I considered a score of 5 out of 10 but then asked myself did it get pass marks. The answer is no so i'm afraid it's 4 out of 10
