Angus Hotel - A Tribute to Small Hotels

We have stayed at the Angus hotel about four times in the last couple of years, sometimes just Yvonne and I and sometimes with the extended family.

The Angus is a small independant hotel in Blairgowrie in Perthshire. The hotel itself has a leisure club with swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. It also provides beauty treatments and massages. There is a nice restaurant and a bar / Bistro. The rooms are varied in size and layourt and accessed by a bit of a rabbit warren of corridors and stairs. What attracts us to the Angus? It's not 4 star luxury but it is of a reasonable standard with good customer service. However that said what we and many others go for is the weekend tribute act breaks they put on throughout the year.

We have seen Neil Diamond, Adele, Michael Buble and the blues brothers at the Angus. Not the real McCoy you understand but decent enough 'sound alikes' .

The tribute weekends are very competitively priced and include dinner bed and breakfast with a gala dinner and tribute cabaret show on the saturday. We've tried the various room grades at the hotel and would recommend paying the little extra for the front facing upgrade room. These are a little larger better equipped and face the town square

All in all the Angus is well worth a visit. Most of it is good. The food in the restaurant is of a good standard with a table d'hote menu or an allowance from the a la carte. The swimming pool, Jaccuzzi and sauna are fine and allow you to while away the saturday afternoon in advance of the evening show and the cabaret gala dinner itself is very good with a true party atmosphere although you do take a chance with the standard of the tribute act.

Nothing bad to report for this hotel amd the only niggle would be the extent of corridors and stairs to access some rooms. With the varied size and layout of rooms you may get a smallish room with a poor view.

I would rate this 8 out of 10 and we will be back at some point no doubt
