Dunblane Hydro - 4 star leisure it's not

4 Star Hotel with 5 Star prices and a 2 star leisure complex dont stay here for a relaxing leisure break there are much better options elsewhere in Scotland.

We booked a 2 night break for the leisure facilities. Our package included a bottle of prosecco on arrival as a promo. The break started badly when we arrived before the alloted check in time and were made to wait a full 30 minutes after the check in time to get access to our room. We expected the prosecco to be waiting on ice in our room regrettably not the case we had to go down to reception and ask where we were given a lukewarm bottle without any apology.

The room itself was of a good standard with a view over the hotel grounds to the front. We decided to have a drink in the lounge before dinner and the drinks were pretty pricey. The restuarant food was good in the evening but the breakfast service was chaotic with queues for the buffet station and then again at the beverage points and a distinct lack of staff to assist.

By far the biggest disappointment was the leisure facilities, the reason we chose this hotel. The steam room was out of operation the whole time and no notification of this was received either before or on arrival. The tiling around the jaccuzzi area was to put it bluntly disgustingly dirty and I am told by Yvonne the ladies changing area was filthy with smear marks evident on the changing room cubicle walls. All in all a very sub standard facility. We complained on day one and checked on leaving nothing had changed we complained again at checkout and apart from the less than sincere apology from the receptionist nothing was done to compensate us for the disappointing experience

As you can imagine we won't be back its a 3 out of 10, for a 4 star hotel we expect 4 star facilities and 4 star service
